Welltory review: what users say, what it does well, and what to know before you start
Welltory's App Store and Google Play ratings, what users like, what to know before you start — devices, the two-week baseline, what the Stress score means — and how subscriptions work.

Short answer
Welltory is a long-running wellness app with high ratings in both app stores: on October 21, 2026 it held 4.7 stars from 134,343 ratings on the US App Store and 4.6 from 61,206 ratings on Google Play. Users most often praise how it turns heart rate, sleep and activity data into clear Stress, Battery and Health scores and how it helps them notice when to slow down. The main things to know before you start are practical: it needs one to two weeks of morning measurements to learn your personal baseline, and not every wearable can send HRV to it yet — some send only sleep and activity.
Is it worth it? Usually yes if you will look at your data for weeks, not just glance at one number. The easiest way to decide is to read recent reviews yourself on the App Store and Google Play, then try the free version.
Before you blame yourself — or the app — for a "wrong" stress score, check what your body actually recorded that day: a short night, a hard workout or a late meal often explain more than the number on its own.

What is Welltory, in one paragraph?
Welltory is a wellness app built on heart rate variability (HRV) — the tiny changes in time between heartbeats that reflect how your nervous system is coping with load. You take a short measurement with your phone camera, an Apple Watch, a Samsung Watch or a compatible chest strap, and the app combines it with your sleep and activity data into daily Stress, Battery (energy) and Health scores, plus reports on sleep, activity, workouts and logged blood pressure. According to the Help Center's device compatibility guide (checked October 21, 2026), most other trackers and smartwatches — Garmin, Fitbit, Oura and others — can send Welltory activity and sleep data through Apple Health, Health Connect or Samsung Health, but cannot be used for the HRV measurement itself. Welltory says plainly in its Help Center (app overview, checked October 21, 2026) that it is not a medical app and does not diagnose. There is a free version and a paid Premium tier; what each includes is on our page is Welltory free.
What do users like about Welltory?
Three themes come up again and again in positive reviews.
1. It turns watch data into something you can read.
"this is a very rich app with a lot of data points coming from multiple apps or fitness tracking possibilities. Just wish they had better free parts available." — Google Play, 4 stars, August 22, 2026
2. It nudges people to notice stress and recovery during the day.
"The app is teaching me when I need to stop and do a Vagus nerve or breathing exercise." — App Store (US), review "It helps!", 5 stars, June 30, 2026
"I truly enjoy the app and it keeps me motivated to watch how I breathe" — App Store (US), review "Best health tool out there!", 5 stars, July 31, 2026 (written by a free-version user)
3. It rewards people who pick a few metrics and stick with them.
"There’s a lot of data and it’s hard to parse through it all, but if you find metrics that are helpful to you and check on those regularly, this app can be very helpful." — App Store (US), review "Helping me return to activity after being sedentary for a decade", 5 stars, July 29, 2026
That last point matters more than any star rating. One HRV value means little on its own; Welltory compares you with your own baseline, which its Help Center (accurate measurements guide, checked October 21, 2026) says takes a week or two of regular morning measurements to form. The people who are happiest with the app tend to be the ones who gave it that time.
What to know before you start
Most disappointment with any health app comes from expectations that don't match how it works. These are the things worth knowing up front — and what to do about each.
Not every wearable can send HRV to Welltory yet
Welltory takes HRV measurements with your phone camera, an Apple Watch, a Samsung Galaxy Watch (Wear OS), a Google Pixel Watch 2 or later, or a compatible chest strap such as Polar H10 or Garmin HRM-Pro (device compatibility guide, data sources, checked October 24, 2026). Garmin, Fitbit, Oura, Samsung Galaxy Ring and most other trackers send sleep and activity data through Apple Health, Health Connect or Samsung Health, but not the HRV measurement itself.
Why: an HRV measurement needs raw beat-to-beat data, and many manufacturers don't share it with other apps. The list of supported devices is kept up to date in the Help Center.
What you can do: keep wearing your tracker for sleep and activity, and take a one-minute morning HRV reading with your phone camera. If workouts or sleep from your device don't appear, first check that your device writes them to Apple Health, Health Connect or Samsung Health; if it does and they still don't show up, send a report through Menu → Report a problem.
The app needs one to two weeks to learn you
Welltory compares you with your own baseline, which takes a week or two of regular morning measurements to form (accurate measurements guide). In the first days, scores are less personal.
What you can do: measure every morning at the same time, sitting or lying still, before coffee and your phone. Judge the results after two weeks.
"Stress" means body load, not mood
"It says I am stressed when I feel good." — App Store (US), 1 star, August 31, 2026
Why this happens: Welltory's Stress score describes physiological load — what your heart rhythm shows about your nervous system — not how you feel emotionally. The two often move together, but not always: pain, being unwell, a late meal, alcohol, a hard workout the day before or a short night can push the body into a stressed pattern while you feel calm. One free-version user who lives with constant pain put it this way in an otherwise five-star review: "Constant pain gives me the result of being in constant fight or flight mode when I actually feel fine." (App Store (US), July 31, 2026).
Measurement quality matters too. Each reading has an accuracy score; results are reliable when it is high (95–100%), and moving, talking, controlling your breathing or poor finger placement lower it (accurate measurements guide). How the measurement compares with an ECG is covered in is Welltory accurate.
On iPhone 17 models, use the front camera
On the iPhone 17 Air, Pro and Pro Max, camera measurements work with the front camera, because the flash sits too far from the ultra-wide lens (accurate measurements guide, checked October 21, 2026). Switch the phone to silent mode, rest your finger gently on the front camera and keep still. On any phone, a lighter or firmer press, warmer hands and different lighting help; a watch or chest strap can take the measurement instead.
There's a lot of data — start with three numbers
"There’s a lot of data and it’s hard to parse through it all, but if you find metrics that are helpful to you and check on those regularly, this app can be very helpful." — App Store (US), 5 stars, July 29, 2026
Why: Welltory shows many reports because different people care about different things — sleep, training, stress or blood pressure. What you can do: for the first two weeks, read only Stress, Battery and Health, and open other reports when you have a question they answer.
How Welltory subscriptions work
A short guide to plans, cancelling and refunds (subscription guide, refund policy, checked October 21, 2026):
Where do I manage my subscription? — Where you paid: Apple ID settings (App Store), Google Play subscriptions, or your account at app.welltory.com (website or promo code).
What happens when I cancel? — Auto-renewal stops; Premium stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
Can I get a refund? — For Google Play and website purchases: full refunds for annual subscriptions within 14 days of a first payment or 48 hours after a renewal. App Store refunds are handled by Apple.
Which plans renew? — Every plan except lifetime renews automatically until you cancel. The final payment screen shows the plan, period and renewal terms.
Tip: if you ever buy both on the website and in a store, those are two separate subscriptions — manage each where you bought it. Current plans and prices are on how much Welltory costs.
Is Welltory legit?
Yes. Welltory is a real app from a real company, available on the App Store and Google Play for years, with high ratings in both stores, a public Help Center, published terms, a privacy policy and a refund policy. The measurement has been studied: a 2022 study compared Welltory with a simultaneous ECG in 26 professional cyclists and found no significant differences — what that does and does not prove is set out in is Welltory accurate.
Is Welltory worth it?
Welltory tends to be worth it for:
people who want to see how sleep, stress and training load add up over weeks, not just today;
people who already wear an Apple Watch or Samsung Watch and want that data explained in plain language;
people willing to measure at the same time every morning for at least two weeks before judging the results;
people who like to test their own habits — what a late dinner, a run or a bad night does to their numbers.
It tends not to be worth it for:
anyone who wants a single simple number and no reading;
anyone hoping an app will diagnose a symptom or predict a medical event — Welltory does not do that;
anyone who wants HRV readings from a tracker that doesn't share beat-to-beat data — check the device list first.
The cheapest way to find out: start with the free version and the trial, measure on day one, and look at the full reports at least once. What stays free and what Premium adds is on is Welltory free.
How to get the most out of your first two weeks
Five habits make the first two weeks — and the decision about Premium — much easier:
Choose where you want to subscribe — App Store, Google Play or the Welltory website. You manage your subscription in the same place you bought it.
Check your plan on the payment screen. It shows the plan, the period and the renewal terms. Every Welltory subscription except lifetime renews automatically until you cancel.
Know the refund terms. Refund windows: 14 days after a first annual payment, 48 hours after a renewal charge (Google Play and website purchases; App Store refunds go through Apple).
Give the algorithm two weeks. Measure each morning, in the same position, before coffee and before your phone. Judge the app after that, not on day one.
Export what you want to keep. On the free version, data older than 30 days is deleted. The web app lets you download charts as CSV: Dashboard → choose a chart and a time range → Export. Our guide to exporting your health data shows what to do with the file.

How Welltory helps — and what it cannot do
Welltory is a general wellness app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, and it is not a substitute for a clinician.
What it does is give you a second opinion from your own body. You feel "fine" or "wiped out"; the app shows what your heart rhythm, sleep and activity were doing at the same time. When the two agree, you learn to trust your sense of your limits. When they disagree, that disagreement is useful too — it is often a sign that a short night or a hard week is costing more than you thought.
A routine that gets the most out of it:
Measure once each morning at the same time, lying down or sitting with your back supported, without talking or controlling your breathing.
Read three things first: Stress (how much physiological load you are carrying), Battery (how much energy you have left for the day) and Health (how your body is handling everyday stress and workload).
Answer when the app spots a stress or rest episode and asks what happened — a late dinner, a hard workout, a difficult conversation, a bad night. Over time, tags show which events tend to come before your worst days.
Look back over the week, not the day. One number means little; a pattern across ten mornings means a lot. Weekly and monthly trends and full history are part of Premium.
Take the pattern, not the score, to your doctor if something worries you. Patterns are connections worth discussing, not proof of a cause.
What it cannot do: tell you what a symptom means, measure blood pressure (you log readings from a cuff), work as a heart monitor, or guarantee that a stress score matches how you feel at that moment.
